Brian was born a south Florida native and graduated Chaminade High School in 1976. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Florida just prior to taking his first job with Land N Sea Marine wholesale distributors as an outside sales representative in the early 1980’s. His salesmanship with Land N Sea in dealing with South Florida’s yacht and boat builders operating marinas and marine dealerships carved a career for him in the marine industry.
From 1987 to 1998 Skelly partnered with Davis Yachts as Sales Manager for Ocean Master Marine’s highest sales volume dealership to date. Each of these sport-fishing vessels was custom outfitted on site to owners’ specifications, with several being delivered to some of the most renowned and internationally recognized tournament anglers throughout the United States, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. In 1995 Brian designed and developed the 33’ Shearwater Express in collaboration with naval architects Michael Peters and Bob Larson, which began as a concept drawing to a finished twin diesel production Express Sport Fisherman.
Brian opened, owned, and operated a marine metal fabrication company in south Florida from 1998 through 2015 that outfitted boats built by local builders and yacht dealers with custom welded towers, tops, and railings that ranged from mid-sized vessels to motor yachts in excess of 100 feet. Throughout his career he’s continued to represent numerous clients as a buyer’s agent in the purchase, build-out, and delivery of custom sport fisherman, motor yachts and commercial vessels.
Brian has since joined Professional Yacht Sales International, Inc.’s brokerage team offering his vast experience in the marine industry, and the proven ability to represent his clients in both the sale and purchase of boats.
